Friday April 24, 2009

Hello Everyone!

Well it's Friday again! I have had a super busy week jammed packed with working at the Fitness Centre and teaching spin classes as well as training myself. We are expecting warm weather this weekend and I'm looking forward to spending time outdoors. It's almost time to get the rollerblades out, as is one of my favourite summer cardio activities! I trained shoulders and rear delts today...great workout. My shoulders are getting stronger and I am noticing how my diet is assisting in this procces.

Here is my workout for today:

Seated Shoulder Presses:

Warm-up 1x12 with 15lbs./sd

1x12 with 20lbs./sd

1x10 with 30lbs./sd

1x10 with 35lbs./sd

1x40 with 40 lbs./sd

Leaning Side Laterals:

4x10 per arm with a 20lb. dumbbell

Lying Barbell Front Raises:

4x10 with 35lb. barbell

Dumbbell Front Raises:

4x15 with 15lb. dumbbells

Machine Rear Delts:

4x12 per side- 45lbs.

I finished off with 40 minutes of cardio on the spin bike.

I'm home now and have made up some yummy chicken and bron rice for dinner; and am looking forward to spending a relaxing night with Tyler (my boyfriend). Hope everyone is well, and I will post more later on the weekend!

Stay Strong!

I am SO psyched for all that has come and has yet to come this year! I have found that although there are stressful situations that I am currently entertaining, there are so many MORE blessings in my life. I woke up this morning and grabbed my journal and wrote down all the things in my life that I am thankful for. I encourage you all to try that! I felt so incredibly blessed after I re-read all the things that I wrote down and realized that we too often focus what is negative in our lives instead of realizing how many amazing things occupy our existence. I have to emphasize having a strong vision and speaking your goals. This includes thanks and gratitude. We have so much to be thankful for...and by affirming these things we are more likely to invite more blessings into our lives! Now to warn you: THIS IS NOT EASY! Anything worth doing is never going to be easy! We have to practice this technique just like we have to put time and effort into our workouts!

I truly believe that mind, body and spirit have to be functioning as one in order to see optimal results in our life. So, if you want to see results in the gym, everything has to be firing at once. We are a package deal and you don't get a whole person when one part is not functioning! This is what is meant by a lifestyle of health! We can't be a die hard athlete and then the next week say, "I'm not going to do this anymore". Bodybuilding, fitness, or athletics is NOT about anyone else but YOU! Unless you are doing it for you, you will give up and give into what people are saying about you or your physique! If you want to gain amazing size or simply tone your body and better your physique, no one has the right to say you should stop! That's what makes all our dreams unique....go for it....dream big! With that said, have you established your new years resolution, something that sets people up for failure? Or have you instead allowed yourself to adopt a fit lifestyle, incorporating fitness or bodybuilding into your daily life? Are you hurting your body instead of caring for it by eating foods that are full of preservatives and have no nutritional value? At least 75% of how you look and feel is what you eat! In my next post I will talk more about the importance of nutrition and fueling your body for life! Keeping this in mind, I encourage you to challenge yourself as April quickly approaches! Pick something regarding your body, mind or spirit that you know you need to change! Whether it be gratitude, your cardio session intensity, putting on some serious size, or changing your relationship with food, we all have something we need to tweak! Together we can achieve our biggest dreams!I'd love to hear more from each of you how you are working towards your goals and answer any questions you may have! We are a team and will press on as one!

Aspiring to Inspire,
